God knows us!
Hello po!
What's up y'all. Hope you all are doing well! The MTC has been such a fun experience thus far. This last week was definitely a rollercoaster but it was all good.
So Tuesday night we had our Big Devotional we have every Tuesday. This week's Devotion was amazing, Brian K. Taylor from the Quorum of the Seventy came and talked to us. His messages were truly amazing. He shared a quote from President Ezra Taft Benson: "If you have the Spirit (Holy Ghost) in your life, you will achieve your righteous desires. And if you don't you won't!" I just thought that this quote was truly amazing and so simple that I would share. We have another Devotional Tonight and we are all super excited because this weekend is General Conference so we have a hunch that it might be one of the 12 tonight since they should all be in town!!
Wednesday was a long day. We had a service project in the morning. It was mad chill. Me and my comp Elder Grow skipped breakfast because we had to get to a DL meeting cause Grow is that guy. After that uhhh we had to host the new missionaries again. This week was a lot better though because I'm not really that homesick anymore so it was chill. Our roommates left this day to the Philippines and they didn't get there till Thursday which was crazy to me. I can't wait for that to be me though for real. I weighed myself today and I haven't changed at all. I still weigh 175 which is nice. I read a talk from Pres. Monson and he gave a quote: "You pile up enough tomorrows, and you'll find you've collected a lot of empty yesterday's." I just like this cause it shows not to wait for tomorrow and just do whatever it is today.
Thursday was a weird day. In Sister Wood's Class we went on a little field trip to a different building and took a look at some pictures on the walls of missionaries in foreign lands. One picture in particular popped out to me. It was from 1994 in the Dominican Republic. It was a missionary in a cement hut with a smile on his face. But I would see my reflection in this picture and it really hit me and Made me wonder "could that be me." This really helped me as I had this question on my mind for the rest of the week. We also learned a lot of Tagalog this week which honestly is getting easier each day but is still so hard.
Friday was a rougher day. I was still tackling that question "could that be me?" And "why am I here?" Brother Kleinman taught some more Tagalog and it really clicked this day. That night we had a workshop about the Book Of Mormon. It was really nice to have that workshop cause it kinda answered my questions that I have been asking myself and it taught me that I need to just seek in the Book of Mormon for answers. I also realized that I could be trying a little harder in my day to day tasks.
God really does know us! This Morning I finished the Book of Mormon all the way through for the first time. It was the most wonderful, joyful, and exciting moment in my life. I had full body chills from the immediate feeling of knowing that it is true and how strong the spirit was, was insane. I just want to share to all of you that I know that it is a true book and I invite all of you to read it if you have any questions you need answered. Me and Grow in Brother Kleinman's class made a "Day in the Life" which was honestly so funny. We also had our second HOA which went amazingly and went according to plan which was great.
Man, I love Sundays so much here at the MTC. Me and my Comp got to bless the sacrament which was a fun experience. Our Go and Do this week was about "Live and Learn the Doctrine of Christ." I didn't have a question going into this week's Go and Do. But like I said before God really does know us. Like I said early this week I had questions about why I am here and my purpose. I was just doing some personal study and when I went and looked back at it, I realized that it doesn't matter why I am here but God has my back in all that I do! I read in 1 Nephi 3, which talks about Nephi going and doing. It also says that "save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he Commandth them." Knowing that God has my back just lifts so much weight off my shoulders and makes me feel so much better and it should you too.
Monday was fun. We had a MTC wide cleanse and just prepared the MTC for the general Conference this weekend. We also had our first Tagalog HOA today and to be completely honest. Elder Grow hard carried. Understanding a language and being able to speak it are so far apart. We taught and it went really well actually. I shared a scripture and why I liked it and bore my testimony. We had our second to last workshop about "talking to others." It was really helpful.
Something I found during my Go and Do this week was in the song "The Miracle." There's a Line in the song that goes, "My name is engraven upon His hand and yours is too." I just thought it was super cool to know that there is a mark on Jesus Christ that is there for us to remind Him of us and to remind us that what He did was for us!
I love y'all so much I hope y'all have an amazing week. Hopefully I get better at writing emails :p
On the way to the Timp Temple in the AM!
